Well, what a fantastic year 2018 has been for Get Hooked on Fishing.
We've had some incredible opportunities this year, such as, being apart of World Fishing Day on 23rd June, where each of our projects ran sessions all day. We returned to the Northern Angling Show on both Saturday and Sunday. The Northern Angling Show is held at Event City Manchester, and gives us the opportunity to show everyone of any ability the basic skills to get you started.

You can still buy your tickets for 2019's Northern Angling Show, and what's even better, you can now add a donation when buying your ticket! Just add a donation at the ticket checkout >> http://bit.ly/NAS2019
We got to be apart of the incredible-ness that is BBC Countryfile LIVE which gives us the opportunity to show the basic skills needed for angling, and also get the chance to take hundreds of people, of any age, ability or experience out for a 20-minute session with our highly qualified, friendly, knowledgable and licensed coaches.
We were also honoured to be apart of the #ThisGirlCan Campaign, which was incredibly successful at raising awareness that no matter what your age, gender, ability or experience, angling can be for you! We got to showcase the amazing and strong women that sent in their inspiring stories about how they got into the sport, and how it helped them, not just physically, but also mentally. You can still read these incredible stories here >> http://bit.ly/GHoFThisGirlCan .
We also announced towards the end of this year that we had been rewarded with the #YoungLondonersFund which was awarded to us by the Mayor of London. This fund gives us further opportunities to work with the local community and schools, helping those who need our support the most. This funding means we can continue to support disadvantaged young Londoners to reach their true potential. We plan to engage with 11-15-year olds at risk or already excluded from school and at risk of becoming involved in crime, with angling as a positive and preventative activity. To raise participants aspirations, develop confidence and self-esteem, decrease anti-social behaviour and help them to engage positively with the local community through volunteering. Thank you to the Mayor of London for this amazing opportunity!
And finally,
A HUGE thank you to our trustees, staff, and volunteers, the charity runs with the help and continued hard-work of you all. Thank you for believing in our charity's ethos, what we stand for, and how we help (with your help) make a difference to the lives of those who need it. Another MASSIVE thank you to all our supporters, who have helped us grow over the years and for many years to come. We couldn't do it without any of you all!
From everyone at Get Hooked on Fishing; we hope you have a safe and wonderful Christmas, and of course, a brilliant New Year! See you all in 2019...
