BBC COUNTRYFILE LIVE 2018

BBC Countryfile LIVE is officially over for another year and what a show this year was. We were fully booked up every day before midday, allowing hundreds of families, children, and parents to join us at our family fishing area down by the waterside, to have a go at our free fishing sessions. It was incredible to witness the amount of interest the sport is having on youngsters, and we couldn’t be happier to help begin their journey.

Not only the fishing, but a fishing-funfair was provided as a way of everyone building their skills and techniques for fishing. We were also joined by the fantastic artist, Dusto, who amazed everyone with his graffiti art-work.

We also got the chance to host the lovely Countryfile/Escape to the Country presenters: Carol Kirkwood, Helen Skelton, Sean Fletcher, Anita Rani, and Margherita Taylor, as well as The One Show’s Mike Dilger. All the stars expressed their interest in Get Hooked on Fishing, taking time to understand and listen about what we do, and what we stand for. We appreciate they took time out of their busy schedules to come see us, and we are so grateful for the chance to spread the word about our charity!

The volunteers we had helping for either 2 days, or 4 days all did an absolutely incredible job, and we are so grateful to have such wonderful people volunteering for us. Volunteers helped coach participants to understand the basics of fishing, and after, directed them on where to go next in order to carry on the new-found love for fishing. Providing them with family-fishing venues at affordable prices.
