Time to meet the amazing people who run our projects around the region...
First up, Heather Lauriston. Our Project Manager for Scotland.
Here are a few words from Heather about her role at Get Hooked on Fishing.
I first got involved with GHOF through a volunteering opportunity at a local fishery (Magiscroft) in 2012. It was great getting the chance to use my level 2 coaching qualification to full effect and get to work with people with varying support needs. I then went on to become the Scotland Project Manager with the charity in 2014.I can honestly say the most rewarding aspect of the job for me is seeing those of all ages, who we work with, learn new skills and watch them grow in confidence.
Interesting fact: I was a member of the first ever Scotland Ladies shore fishing team.

Next up is Bridget Dawson. Our Project Manager for Bolton...
We asked Bridget a few questions about Get Hooked on Fishing.
1. How did you get involved with Get Hooked on Fishing?
In 2008 the opportunity arose for a full-time position running a project for Get Hooked on Fishing in the Bolton area and I jumped at the chance. We are very lucky to be based at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries which is one of the best commercial fisheries in the area and the staff there are very supportive.
2. How long have you worked at Get Hooked on Fishing?
As of April 1st 2018, I will have been working with Get Hooked on Fishing for ten years.
3. What's the most rewarding aspect of your job?
It's a great way to give something back to the sport and to ensure young people learn the necessary skills to become competent anglers, it's also a lot of fun!

Next is Karl Humphries. Our West Midlands Project Manager.
Here are Karl's answers to our questions about Get Hooked on Fishing.
1. How did you get involved with Get Hooked on Fishing?
I was invited to join the GHoF team and have been at Get Hooked on Fishing ever since.
2. How long have you been with the charity?
12 years and I’m still only 21!!
3. What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
After 12 years in the role of project manager with GHOF, I find it still as rewarding today educating, young and old, male and female into the wonderful...Sport, Pleasure, Leisure, Passion, Addiction and pass time that is the glorious activity of ANGLING.
4. What’s one interesting fact about you? Not very good at self-promotion…I'm old school…If you have to tell everybody you're a King you're not really a King!!! I’m an incredibly passionate angler from Newcastle under Lyme.
The project managers make sure everything is running smoothly across their projects (everything behind the scenes). We have a great team at Get Hooked on Fishing and our project managers will always go that extra mile!
If you would like to contact any of our project managers regarding fishing sessions, fishing parties (all our regions host them), please do feel free to contact us via the contact form!
